1. Global informations about Flut!
Flut! is a strategy boardgame with
- multiportsupport
- up to 50 games
- variable size
- 2-6 players in a game (no teamgames)
- 1 turn a day with min. 12 hrs pause (like GW)
- Rankings
- News Report (newspaper with ended games)
- Hall of Flut
- Walls (one per game and one global)
- Ansis by Miracle (tHe fAMoUs!)
2. Documentation
2.1 Indroduction
2.1.1 Game-theory
Please read EXACTLY! In the next 30 lines you get a lot (really a LOT!)
information about the game-theory of Flut!
Flut is a strategy-game.
Your looking at the playground from top, filled with a definit number of
buckets. They have to be filled! Every player gets his own colour for
filling these buckets for a third. You can only fill in empty buckets or
in buckets of your own colour.
If a bucket is full, it floods. And it floods the buckets at top, at
bottom, to the right and to the left with its colour, again for a third.
(at X-Flut flooding works diagonal)
Flooded buckets are filled for a third with the colour of the filling
player. Or automatically they take the colour they were flooded with.
Real chainreactions are possible here.
Buckets that are allready full, won`t be changed anymore.
Each turn, you get a third of a bucket with colour to fill in. In
contrary to GW it will not be multiplied with the number of days not
playing. At Flut the number of fillings become double after three days not
playing - thats all! - nothing more!
The game ends, when one player is unreachable in front.
2.1.2 Points
One point for every filled bucket (three thirds)!
When a game ends, the winner gets a bonus of:
X_Size*Y_Size*Players/6 ( max. 11*11*6/6=121 points)
and the looser a deduction of:
X_Size*Y_Size/6 ( max. 11*11/6=20 points)
This ensures that the size of playground and the number of players become
an important factor, and not only the number of games you join.
At 1000 points you enter the "Hall of Fame" and the scores restart.
2.1.3 Choises at joining
At gamestart following values will be asked:
- X-SIZE : X-size of playground
- Y-SIZE : Y-size of playground
- DIRECTION: the direction the buckets will flood (x=diagonal n=normal)
- BORDERS : playgroundmargins are borders (y=yep) or
: playgroundmargins are no borders and you continue on opposite
side (n=no)
- PLAYERS : number of players (possible:2-6)
2.2 Example of a game
Every player is displayed in its own colour. In the same colour his
filled buckets will be displayed.
When a user selects a game he has joined, his name will be marked with a
">" (Seen here at user "Qwert")
bucket filled with three thirds!
(does not|change anymore!)

2.3 Graduations of the screen
2.3.1 Statusline
In the first line you see what type of game it is.
Possible is:
For borders: - NoBor. (playgroundmargins are no borders!-
- continue at opposite side)
- Border (playgroundmargins are borders!-
- no way over them )
At Fluttype: - Normal (flooding goes horizontal and vertical!)
- X-Flut (flooding goes diagonal! cross-way)
2.3.2 Playground
Beneath you see the playground. Sorry for not colouring the bucketfillings
in this documentation. :)
The right part of the screen is split in three sections:
2.3.3 Players
- Name means the handle of the user.
- 1/3, 2/3 and 3/3 means the fillingvalue. Displayed is how much
buckets of each value the user owns.
- Last means when played the user for the last time (in days).
When the last turn was 3.0 days ago, you can fill in twice.
- Next means the time the user can take his next turn. You can play
once a day exactly. But it must be min.12 hours since your
last turn.
When the player has joined the selected game, a ">" points at his entry.
2.3.4 Gamedisplay
"your Games" are games which concern the user directly:
- turn (Users turn is now)
- in (User is in the game, but it`s not his turn yet)
- joined (User has joined the game, but some players are still missing)
- end (User has no more possibility to take his turn-everything full-)
"other" not concerning him directly:
- out (User didn`t join this game)
- wait (User didn`t join, but he is still able to)
- empty (Game is empty - not startet yet - no entries yet)
The different game-conditions are coloured various. In the same colours
the concerning game-numbers are displayed for easier identifing.
2.3.5 Possible choises
- S:elect a game >> 04 << (you can enter the game-number)
left side:
- A:utoselect turns (selects the games automaticly, where you may take
your next turn)
- P:oints (Information about points-valuations is shown)
- I:nstructions (Short instruction is displayed)
- W:all (... a Wall - one for every game and one is global)
- Q:uit back to bbs (Quit Flut! and return to CNet)
right side:
- C:lock (shows actual time and the time when your next turn
in any game is on)
- N:ews report (a newspaper with the ended games on - the Date,
the game-number, last player and! the winner)
- R:ankings (actual rankinglist - name, points and number of
needed games)
- H:all of Flut (the best players - Date, number of needed games and
the name)(who guess?):)
undocumented keys:
- "+" (one game ahead)
- "-" (one game back)
these are only available at keyboard and
not for your users, cause they can:
- maybe easy drop carrier (+++)!!!
- not know, what background-actions like harddiskfunctions or else happen.
3. Installation
Copy the whole directory "Flut" to your "Pfiles:" and copy "Megatext" to
your "c:"-DIR.
Copy all files from "Text_E" to "Pfiles:Flut" and delete "Text_D" and
"Text_E".
Then adopt the file "Flut" as a CNet-C - file.
To start the server you can add the following line to your startup-sequence :
"run pfiles:flut/flut-server".
If not , the server will be started automaticly at first calling and is
available at the second.
Thats all !
4. Thankings/greetings
I want to thank all friends, supporting me when programming this game named
"flut!". There was:
Kongoman : for the magnifique idea to this game
Miracle : for all Ansis (was a hard job anyway, hehe)
Benno & Flash : criticism, improvment suggestion and bugreports
Benno : terrible english translation
all other users : for numerous playing (without the interests of the players
it would never reach this point)
5. Famous last words of the programmer
I`m running Flut since 6 months on my BBS and it was a continuous
development until today.
It`s running 100% stably. I never lost any datas until now.
The gamedatas are saved when the last user leaves flut! So if some Guru
happens the datas of the user(s) still in game are lost.
If somebody is interessed in new CNet-Tools or Games, why not call at:
- Gambler's Hall II +49-9187-902041 -
Maybe something new is on...
cu in the next game/tool...
